Colorado's Westin Westminster is committed to offering guests an environmentally conscious place to relax and conduct business. The hotel engages in several initiatives to promote a "greener" way of life, including:

SOLAR

• First hotel in Colorado to install a state-of the-art solar panel system
• Our solar panels power more than 5% of The Westin Westminster's guest rooms
• Using these solar panels is the environmental equivalent to planting more than 192 trees annually
• Solar panels provide the positive impact of avoiding more than 1.91 million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions and 1,291 pounds of nitrogen oxide over 30 years
• Solar panels projected to save the hotel more than $75,000 in averted energy costs over the next 20 years

CONSERVE

• Sophisticated HVAC system utilizes technology and natural outdoor weather patterns to heat and cool the conference center during peak periods
• HVAC occupancy sensors in guestrooms eliminates the heating and cooling of unoccupied rooms
• Expansive windows offer natural light, replacing the need for light bulbs
• Guestroom toilets offer water-saving flush features to help minimize total water usage
• Complimentary hotel shuttle services available, promoting public transportation

GREEN INITIATIVES

• "Linen and Terry" Program, a Westin Brand Standard, allows guests to limit the frequency of laundered items
• Lighting dimmers and sensors mandate the amount of electricity being used throughout the hotel
• Hotel-wide paper use reduction program in place through the utilization of double-sided printing and electronic alternatives to printing
• Hotel is 100% non-smoking

REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE

• Recycling of all paper and cardboard products is available throughout the hotel
• Over-produced food items are properly stored and utilized for other functions and purposes
• Guestroom amenities (shampoo, conditioner) are provided in bottles made from recycled materials

ORGANIC THINK

• Pitchers of water are utilized for meetings and other events to prevent the use of plastic bottles
• Interior plants and other natural foliage is located throughout the hotel
• Herbs and fresh produce grown on-site seasonally
• Created Employee "Green Team" to help educate staff members about how to be more eco-friendly

SMART PRODUCTS

• Ecolab non-phosphate chemicals are utilized throughout the hotel, including laundry, housekeeping, and engineering
• Green label, non-mercury fluorescent bulbs are used in all public areas, guestrooms and bathrooms
• Multiple-use linens, towels, china and silverware in all food and beverage operations
• Water-saving flushing mechanism for toilets is replaced annually
• Guest bathroom sinks contain an aerator
• Flat-screen televisions in guestrooms double as a paperless check-out method
