The Westin Westminster is dedicated to doing everything we can to minimize our impact on the environment. We proudly offer many "earth-friendly" programs, including recycling bins in all guest rooms, the use of Ecolab non-phosphate cleaning products and water saving toilets.

Capturing Colorado's 300+ days of Sunshine

The Westin Westminster recently installed a state-of-the-art solar panel system, making us the first hotel in Colorado to be partially solar powered.

The Westin Westminster's 139 solar panels will produce 42,576 kilowatt-hours of energy per year, the equivalent to planting more than 192 trees annually! Long-term environmental benefits of the solar system include: 

• More than 5 percent of the hotel's 369 guest rooms will now be powered by solar
• More than 1.91 million pounds of Carbon Dioxide emissions and 1,291 pounds of Nitrogen Oxide emissions will be avoided over the next 30 years
• Preventing 639 tons of coal from being burned over the next 30 years

Make a Green Choice

The Westin Westminster also participates in Starwood's "Make a Green Choice" program, which allows guests to opt out of towel and linen replacement and all housekeeping services for up to three nights at a time. For each night of participation, guests will be given a $5 Westin Westminster gift card or the option of receiving 500 Starpoints as part of Starwood's loyalty program.

Allowing our guests the option to choose to use their towels and bed linens for multiple days helps greatly in reducing our chlorine and detergent use while also saving thousands of gallons of water annually.

Green Your Meeting

The Westin Westminster offers several ways to make your meeting more eco-friendly, such as the use of water pitchers in our meeting space to reduce reliance on plastic bottles. We also offer a clutter-free meeting program, where reusable pads of paper and pens are placed on tables in the back of meeting rooms to reduce individual waste. The hotel offers local shuttle service (5-mile radius) to all guests free of charge, reducing the need for rental cars for many.
